Before and After - Projects from 2018

First of all, Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone. I had a busy holiday season with guests, family visits, and shopping. I was able to post on my FaceBook page some of my 2018 projects. Some are finished, some of the big ones are still in progress. When I look through my analytics it seems that the Before and After Pictures get the most attention and the most comments.

With that said, below is a recap of some of the projects I worked on in 2018. You can see more pictures on my Facebook page. Click here for the link.

New Build in Tavares. This client purchased lake front property on Lake Dora. The client had a floor plan of house they liked. We worked together to make sure they could fit the furniture they wanted in all the rooms, placed ceiling lighting so it would light the walk ways, and seating areas properly - according to the furniture that would be in each space. There is so much more to this project and I’ll post more detail about building out of the ground and why hiring an interior designer is so important in a later blog post. Final details such as accessorizing and window treatments will be complete this quarter so stay tuned for some beautiful photography. Completion in 2019.

Laundry Room Update in Altamonte Springs. It was time to update the laundry room in this beautiful home. The client needed storage for her brooms, mops, tall items, etc. The client also loves to sew so she wanted a dedicated space to sit and sew while she took in her lake view. We stacked the washer/dryer which gave more cabinet space to the room. We also ran granite under the window which gives the client a nice horizontal space to fold laundry and nice place to sit and sew. We chose a beautiful paint color to compliment the nice off white cabinets, beautiful back splash, and granite. We also addressed the lack of lighting in the room. Originally there was a one semi-flush mounted fixture. That was removed and recessed cans were placed in the ceiling the length of the room. Completion in 2018.

Kitchen Update in Apopka. Farmhouse was huge in 2018. In this Apopka home it was time take this 1980’s beauty and make it a space that was more functional and in the homeowner’s taste. This update is actually part of a complete house gut so stay tuned for more pictures! In this project, I was hired originally to help with some flooring selections. The client had already decided what was to be done and was stuck on that relatively small detail (in the big scheme). I also space planned furniture for the new layout which was important because almost all the interior walls between the kitchen, family room, and formal living room were coming down. After this initial exercise the contractor and kitchen and bath company were able to give budget numbers. The project originally involved moving the kitchen to a different room but once the actual numbers came in for that and the open floor plan had a furniture layout done - it was decided to keep the kitchen in its original foot print and maximize the layout there. Even though there was some delay because of all these steps the end result is beautiful, and very functional. Completion in 2019.
